The Semenovs’ Lawsuit

The plaintiffs claim that an employee of SIZO-3 (Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 3) in Novocherkassk appropriated a parcel intended for an inmate.

Egor Igorevich Semenov (who, according to the investigation, was convicted of attempting to poison graduates of a Russian military aviation school in Armavir) and Tatyana Ivanovna Semenova (his mother) filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for material and moral damage caused by the actions of the administration of SIZO-3 (Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 3) for the Rostov Region (the town of Novocherkassk). Semenov, who is being held in SIZO-3, did not receive a parcel sent by his mother, even though the parcel had been collected from the post office. The plaintiffs therefore believe that a SIZO employee may have appropriated it.

The court of first instance ordered that Semenova be paid the full value of the parcel (23,800 rubles) and compensation for moral damage (1,000 rubles), and that Semenov be paid compensation for moral damage (3,000 rubles).
